CLOTHING BANK
Need Addressed: The clothing bank assists families to stretch their limited resources. This type of assistance from The Potter’s Wheel frees money from their budgets to pay rent, utilities, and other expenses, and in some cases can even prevent homelessness.
Program Description: The Potter’s Wheel receives and sorts donated items of clothing for distribution. The clothing bank is open twice a week during the same hours as the soup kitchen. Clothing is given free of charge to those in need.
Mission Alignment: The clothing bank aligns to The Potter’s Wheel Ministries’ mission by meeting physical needs among inner-city Evansville residents.
Goal/Impact: The goal of the clothing bank is to provide clothing to Evansville’s inner city residents not only for everyday activities but also for job interviews, employment and social events.
Outputs: Signatures on sign-in sheets that list the number of articles of clothing each person receives will be required. The number of articles given away will be totaled each month. A monthly report will be submitted to the administrator prior to the board of directors meeting.
At least 55 individuals will receive 10 articles of clothing or a total of 550 articles of clothing per week during the first six months. At least 60 individuals will receive 10 articles of clothing or a total of 600 articles of clothing per week during the second six months of the grant period.
Outcomes: As a result of receiving free clothing from The Potter’s Wheel, inner city residents will see an increase in available income which can be used to meet their basic needs. Appropriate clothing will also improve employment opportunities.
